Friends of Lakeside Primary School (usually referred to just at FoLPS), raises up to £7,000 each school year through many events for children and parents, including seasonal fairs, film nights, magic and quiz shows, disco’s etc.
FoLPS also provides a refreshment service at events throughout the school calendar, such as Grandparents Day, Sports Day, Christmas and Summer productions and Open Evening.
Funds raised by FoLPS are used to enhance the school environment for your child, and in turn we would love you to get involved with our activities. Each year, 60% of the amount raised is used on things your child will come into contact with on a daily basis, like iPads, library books, Golden Time toys, individual white boards, musical instruments and playground games.
The remaining 40% is put towards a special project. Recent years have also seen FoLPS money used for the new playhouse in Reception, to replace the ‘Trim Trail’ (wooden activity equipment) in the Phase 2 playground, purchase new flooring in Hall 2 and the Dining Room, and to transform the play environment in the Phase 1 playground, including purchasing a pirate ship and numerous other enhancements.
All parents are automatically members of FoLPS when their child enters the school. We would be pleased to have you on board as either a general helper, which could be something as simple, but essential, as folding raffle tickets at home, or as a more regular Committee member. Each class has a Class Representative on the FoLPS Committee, which is often a good way to start to get involved and to find out how things work.
We hope you will enjoy being part of the FoLPS team during your time at Lakeside, and looking forward to seeing you at an event soon.
